Rosie ans I were working on this part of the garden last week.My two Japanese Acers were originally in large pots,which they'd outgrown,Rosie struggled to dig large holes to set them in.My garden is solid clay soil,very difficult to work on.

Oh, how lovely! Rosie's hard work has paid off; your Acers look beautiful surrounded by the slate shale. Our soil is clay too, I understand Rosie's difficulties!
