As I have mentioned several times, Ferrara is almost completely surrounded by Renaissance walls, where people go running, cycling and walking their dogs. This morning I was near one of the bastions when the sun rose and I took this image for my 365 friends. On black, please!
@paul10 Yes, I agree. Thank you. In the meantime I have received the speed light to take pictures inside, but It is not clear to me, yet how it works and the english translation from the Japanese does not help much. In a near future I will ask for your advice!
It looks great on black. Great shot of a beautiful start of the day. i never have been in Italy , I only have seen pic.`s of it. I believe you . But Italy is a big country so I guest there is much differents between the parts.
@pyrrhula yes, as we say Italy is long, meaning that it extends from the Alps to below Africa. So there are many different landscapes, cities and cultures
My first reaction is "What a beautiful photo!" My next reaction is, "Caterina, what are you doing up so early?!" Even the trees look like they don't want to be up yet. Please tell me you were just coming home from an evening of inspired photographing or a wild impromtu baccanalia. And that you weren't getting up before the sun even had a chance to rise. Anyway, I do really like the idea of a city with bastions. How historically compelling. And also I like your photo. The dark mystery of the ancient walls contrasting the brightly optimistic promise of the eternal sunrise.
@mbrutus Great comment. As a matter of fact it was not that early, but being behind the walls let the sun appear later. However it is true, early morning has a special charme that I miss most of the time because I'm an owl (you could take a great picture of me on a dry branch)
I am a night owl myself. I am glad to hear you describe yourself as one, too. That is how I have always imagined you from how soulfully you seem to haunt the night in all of the nocturnal cityscapes you so kindly share with all of us.
