Hundertwasser

This has been a controversial project in Whangarei and only recently opened (in fact it is cropped to cut out some ongoing construction work).

Friedensreich Hundertwasser was an Austrian artist/architect who came to NZ in his later years and lived in Northland and made some well known toilets in Kawakawa that all the tourist buses stop at on the way up north. This project was to try and get more tourists to stop in Whangarei (rather than drive right through).

Locals are very divided as to whether it provides bang for buck!
I am not sure about this, I thought you posted some old photo when you were overseas. Pohutukawa pulled me back to New Zealand.

Wonderful reflections! I remember seeing this in Whangerei some years ago but have never seen it with the water in front!

You did a wonderful job of capturing it with those lovely reflections. Here's hoping the tourist will want to see this as well.

That is quite distinctive. I love the reflections. I don’t think I’ve ever come across the phrase “well known toilets” before. Sounds like a potential subject for EOTB
