That face. We have been stopped in shopping malls, by teachers at schools and older ladies at church--all marveling at the beauty of this child. From the time she was an infant, she has captured people's attention in a way that is indescribable. When she was little, she simply smiled and laughed. As she got older, she became more self-conscious, embarrassed by the attention. Today, she is still a tomboy, but growing increasingly aware of her appearance. Oh, I hope I can show her how to be confident in her intelligence, humble without being insecure. Beauty is a gift, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't come without a price.
