Was outside taking pictures when I noticed this hawk circling above my house and at first he was really close. So I rushed inside to change to my longer lens. It took about 2 minutes yet by time I came back outside, he was MUCH higher in the sky. Nooo! :(
I’ve been seeing these guys around a lot lately but this was the first time seeing one above my house. Wasn’t going to post this shot but it gives me motivation to try again. I’ll get you some day Mr. Hawk!
Nice capture of the immature red tail hawk! Being as you're in California, you might just have had a nest fledge and so are seeing more...I don't know if they breed all year down there or not.
@lynnb - Thanks for the identification Lynn! You may be right about the nest fledge too because I see them quite a bit, they're driving all the crows crazy! haha. Also from what I researched they usually breed in the late winter or early spring in Cali.
