(Day 8) - The Ferrule

Today's green photograph is very simple but taught me something new. That little metal piece at the end of a pencil is called a ferrule. I never knew it had a name!

In fact, there are many common objects that have a ferrule, such as the plastic sleeve preventing the ends of shoelaces from unraveling (also called an aglet) and the metal band that binds the bristles of a paintbrush to its handle. Ferrules rule! :D
Once again edifying us through your creativity! thanks Chris! I think I have never seen a green ferrule before today either!

Love the little things that hold it all together- they never get enough recognition.

Very interesting. I also find it interesting that it will be someone's job to make the little things that hold things together. Or perhaps and machine will do it.
