So...this would be the hardest subject I have ever photographed. I will be 53 in a few days and so I thought I would do a self portrait around my birthday. It's raining here, so I decided to try it today. This may be the only one you ever see. I do not like pictures of myself. This is best viewed really, really small or with your monitor turned off. It doesn't look any less scary in b&w. I tried it. :0)

@cjwhite , you shouldnt beat yourself up... and if you start to take funny shots of yourself, then it will get easy to take good shots.... hell Im the queen of stupid shots of myself.. :)
@nikkers In all seriousness, the angle of this shot has alot to do with my point and shoot camera. I was basically shooting blind and hoping for the best. I had some really funny shots! :0)
No one creates hisselfs. If we could 90 of 100 will do it otherwise and the other 10 need such. I do see a vey pretty wowan , nothing wrong with. I can see some of a smile ....
Well, after your lovely comment on my spoonbills today, I took myself for a look at your project and came across this beautiful portrait. In fact, I didn't take your advice and I viewed it with the magnifier! Truly, your portrait is lovely and and you are a good-looking woman. Your shiny, beautiful hair, lovely eyes and nicely-shaped face are nothing to be ashamed of at all. And I like your quizzical expression. So, well done in being brave enough not to delete; and you should use it for your profile pic., as well. Oh, by the way, save up for a trip to Oz; you won't be disappointed.
I don't agree with your commentary, Carolyn. I think you look fine, except that like myself you aren't keen on having your photo taken. There's a bit of camera angst going on there within the eyes. lol I know how that feels, irrational though it may seem to others who see a good looking woman in her fifties. :)

I agree with everyone above... you look great I think I have the same or similar glasses... I just always take them off for selfies since they are about ten inches thick (slight exaggeration ;) ) I also don't like my picture taken.. unless I take it myself so I can get the right angle and lighting... I think we are all too critical of ourselves. Nice to put a face to your nice comments.
