After my husband's car accident this morning, I plan on hovering around him when he gets home from work!
This is a small Hover Fly. I wanted to use some color in my project today, so I stalked these insects for some time. I found out that these wildflowers close at night and don't reopen until around the middle of the morning. When I was growing up, we called hover flies corn flies.

The detail in this is stunning. What a pretty little fly. I guess he's a pest like all flies? What a pity. The flower is just beautiful too. it looks a little like our day lillies.
