I'm still trying to get a good pic of a Hummingbird Moth. They just aren't cooperating! LOL! They work really fast and the extreme heat we are having is slowing me down!
This Silver-spotted Skipper is the is the first butterfly I've seen land on the thistles. The hindwings have a large, silvery spot. The forewings have yellow-brown bars. I think they look golden.

Wow - this is so worth the stalking! The detail in this is stunning! I am marveling at the butterfly's "sticking" ability to hang onto this flower. He might have been so busy hanging on, that he didn't notice you.:-)
