A tall drink of milk

Well, not exactly milk, but it is a milkweed. This is a female Sachem Skipper Butterfly. I'm sure she needed a drink. It was extremely hot and humid today!

Thank you for your views and comments!!! I really appreciate the wonderful responses to my I'm new here pic! :0)

She is beautiful

Is that her tongue? My goodness, it's long! I love how many different butterflies are stopping on the milkweed.

When I was in junior high my science teacher told us never touch a butterfly because you'll brush off their scales which might keep them from flying. Look, but don't touch.

@kchuk It's her proboscis. She uses it like a straw to suck the nectar. :0)

I like your lighting and colors. Particularly like seeing the different stages of the flower and leaf. Great butterfly. I think you should be published.
