Junebug by cjwhite

Junebug

I've always called these Junebugs. I think they may be a little confused. They didn't come out until July.

The real name for them is June Green Beetle (cotiris nitida). I like Junebug better. :0)

We are under a heat advisory in our area. It's 98 degrees F right now, with a heat index of 110 degrees. The heat and humidity takes your breath away. I took short trips out for pics and stayed close to shade today. it's going to be more of the same tomorrow.

Thank you for visiting my project!!! :0)
What a cute little creature. Love the colour; it looks almost iridescent. And those very attractive antennae are pretty, too. Send some of that heat our way, please. That's just how I like it.

Their color is neat too, but I'm sure the are damaging to the plant life.

What an amazing metallic colour Carolyn - just gorgeous. June/July bug - meh - as long as the bugs aren't confused. Stay cool over there - that's heat in the extreme! Hope it doesn't reach 110!

I like Junebug too--this is a beautiful beetle, I haven't seen those around here. We have the same yucky weather forecast here too :( AND it's overcast right now with 100% humidity...ugh, make it stop

Your Junebug is pretty. Ours are a not-so-pretty brown.

I love the green! I used to (sort of still am) majorly afraid of them thanks to one flying in my face as a kid. hehe
July 12th, 2011
I forgot how pretty & shiny they are.
July 12th, 2011
a jewel, the bug and the pic of that bug
July 12th, 2011
Oh! He looks just like an Aussie Christmas Beetle! (except a little less shimmery). I don't envy you the humidity! That's one thing I DON'T miss about the east...I do love the way you got this guy climbing from one stalk to the other!
