I haven't taken pics in my usual places for several days. I was surprised to find the milkweed bugs are thriving, even in the cold weather.
This is a nymph. It's wings aren't developed yet. The nymphs are red, instead of orange like the adults.
I've been reading about them and I found it's easy to raise them. They like sunflower seeds, watermelon, and nuts. I think I'll try my hand at keeping some. I know they'll be interesting to watch. :0)
Thank you for your nice comments on our Halloween pumpkins! :0)
Great idea to raise some. I have seen a few of these, but they are always on orange brick and the shots don't seem to come out so I quit trying...I was in a hurry last time I saw one, which was one day this week, as I came out of the bank....
Great capture! I don't think I have seen the nymph stage before. Great detail in your shot. Thanks for the information. I was beginning to wonder what these ate. I keep seeing these insects around my yard.
Beautiful capture and close up amezing colours
