At journey's end
My once vivid colors are fading. My wings are slightly tattered. One of my eyes has gone dark. My journey is coming to an end.
I've lived a good life this past month. I've danced with friends among the wildflowers. I've sailed high in the sky on gentle breezes.
My time is almost up, but I've done my part. New generations will come in the spring. The cycle will start anew.
I will never know it, but I brought happiness to at least one photographer.

Wonderful thought! Won't it be fun to watch for them next spring all perky again? Some do look like they've fought many battles. Your detail as always is perfect.
