Nuthatches are named for their habit of wedging seeds and nuts into crevices and hacking them open with their bills. I saw this lady Nuthatch hacking away on a seed today. I think she raided a Chickadee's stash. :0)

Fab shot! Although they hang around with Chickadees, they are quite a bit shyer. One brave little one actually came and ate from my hand before Christmas - that was a thrill!
Greetings from Cambridge UK. I've just joined the community and plan to buy a lens with a longer focal length for bird photography shortly. A superb shot of the nuthatch complimented by the tree itself. Great!
