I love butterflies, so I am always excited to see and shoot a new one! I spied this colorful Viceroy, while I was filling the hummingbird feeders. I didn't have my camera, so I did my little photographic chant of please stay there over and over as I went inside for my camera. I was very lucky, as it was still there when I returned and I got several shots.
The Viceroy looks a lot like the Monarch. It's a beautiful butterfly! I think the Monarch caterpillars are cute. I saw a pic of the Viceroy caterpillar. It's not very cute. The description compares it to bird droppings. I want to find one. :0)
