This shot has been on my bucket list for three years. I have never been able to get a pair of Red-bellied Woodpeckers together, until today. I was shooting the female and the male flew into the shot and stayed for a few more. :0)
lovely picture. Do you know that it's dangerous to give this "winter food" to birds during spring and summer? If they give this food to the babies, they won't be able to fly because there's too much grease in it and their wings won't be strong enough. Sorry it's hard to explain but I read this on a book or Internet about birds.
