I gave blood for this photo! I was taking a picture of my flowers when I felt this mosquito biting my hand. All the rain we have received has been wonderful, but it has really helped the mosquito population.
Ugh! You are more dedicated than me! I admit that upon last attack I briefly thought of grabbing the camera... but nahhh- i smacked him dead instead. Great blood-worthy close-up, though!
I don't think I've ever seen one up close like this - I'm too busy swatting them! Mosquitoes haven't been as bad here this year - it's the gnats that have really enjoyed all the rain we've gotten. He's awfully tinyy to get such a great close-up. Sacrifice!
Blasted insect. These horrid things have been the worst nuisance this summer during photo hunts. There's such satisfaction in smashing them flat, even if your own blood is splattered in the process. I read somewhere that if you press a warm spoon to the bite spot, it won't itch. I then tried it, warming a spoon over the stove's flame then holding it on the welt. Amazingly, it actually works!!
