Texas Sheet Cake

What do you do at 9:00 PM when your husband says, "Oh, yeah, honey, I need a dessert for work tomorrow." You whip up a Texas Sheet Cake!!
This is for sure the best! Want some right now. I have never made it. I need to make one soon! I have a very dear friend who always brought this cake for birthday celebrations. Great memories of her.

Oh this looks great. I'm in charge to bake on Saturday some things for the 20th birthday of my nephew. I hope you do not mind, if I give a try on Texas sheet cake.

There are many recipes for Texas Sheet Cake.... google it and you will see! Here's my recipe:

Texas Sheet Cake :

2 cup sugar
2 cup flour

1/2 cup oil
1 stick margarine
1 cup water
4 tbsp cocoa

1/2 cup buttermilk (substitute 2 tsp vinegar + 1/2 cup milk)
2 beaten eggs
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla

Icing:
1/2 stick butter
6 tbsp milk
1/2 lb powdered sugar
4 tbsp cocoa

Add sugar and flour to mixing bowl.

In a sauce pan add oil margarine water and cocoa. Boil and pour over sugar and flour.

Add next set of ingredients to above.

Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 min on a large cookie sheet.

Frosting:

1/2 stick butter and 6 tbsp milk - heat and add 1/2 lb powdered sugar and 4 tbsp cocoa.

Apply icing while cake is hot.
(If you want to add chopped nuts, make a little more icing than indicated. This icing is thin and barely covers the cake.)

Dear Carolyn. Wow, I feel highly privileged to receive your personal recipe. How kind your are, taking the time to write down all the ingredients and the "how to do it". Thanks a million. I hope I do not fail and will keep you updatet on the outcome. (If I do not succeed, then it's all my fault, ...)

Carolyn, thanks so much. How nice to have your own personal recipe, as Mona just said. I've got to take a dessert to a campout next week, and I think I know what I'm going to make and take. Thanks so MUCH Can't wait to try it.

It looks and sounds delicious. If it has chocolate in it, it has to be good.
