I had some business to handle in downtown Long Beach this morning, but was turned away after discovering today was a holiday. (Should've realized something was up when I found a parking spot on the first floor of the parking structure at 10:30 in the morning.)
Although it is not a federal holiday, President Barack Obama proclaimed March 31st as Cesar Chavez Day in the United States, with Americans being urged to "observe this day with appropriate service, community, and educational programs to honor Cesar Chavez's enduring legacy."
Wonderful capture. How interesting, I wonder if it was celebrated all over the US or only in California. Cesar Chavez was a great community leader fighting for his people.
