Rooftops

Today I was walking in the snow. Snow changes the world, makes features of parts of buildings that would normally remain unnoticed, like rooftops!
I chose this pic because someday soon the skyline will change for ever, as the distinctive spire of the methodist church will disappear. Riddled with wet rot and dry rot, it's days are numbered. The impractical, romantic part of me feels sad that a distinctive part of the skyline will be lost, but keeping it is not the sensible option. It's demolition has not been met with uniform approval, but the voices supporting its retention it have not been prepared to dig into their pockets and cough up the vast sum of money required for restoration.
When a church has to spend all it's energy battling to raise finds just to maintain their buildings, they don't have the resources for fulfilling their purpose - the spreading of the gospel. From then on they are fighting an uphill battle for survival.

Instead, the congregation have joined forces with the Anglicans, and are moving forward and are a very positive force in the local community.
Lovely pic, Rose!
