@sitiodown, yes. It's the guts of an upright piano. The knobs in the upper right let tuners adjust the tension on the strings below. The "hammers" in the middle of the shot bang against them when you press the keys to make the sound.
I took lessons when I was young, but it didn't take. My wife is quite talented and my daughter could be, but has my aversion to practicing...
