School's Out Forever

This was Castle Street School in Portchester (in the rain). It is now an adult learning centre but was originally built as the Portchester Board School in 1873 at a cost of £970. It was renamed Portchester Council School in 1903. The school's first headmaster was Richard Bennetts who was only 22 when he became head and remained there for over 40 years.
