@monikozi Thanks I've been trying for many years.Got a bit better after following You Tube Courses by France van Stone an reading books.I also atten a local Art Club but not since covid.This ia a copy of a sketch France did which is in her book

In pencil I tend to not use hatching, but rather to fill in the space with lead. I love the effect frim hatching, but I couldn't get to the core of it.
