Doors To The Past by digitalrn

Doors To The Past

I wanted to get one more theme photo in this week, but after I came home from work, I found out that my get up and go had gotten up and left. It was a lazy evening. I was in the basement looking around for something appropriate for the theme when my eyes stumbled upon this huge cabinet we have hanging on the wall in the basement. Then it hit me, I can use this. It is very simple, but yet to me, it has a story. This cabinet is approxiamately 55 inches tall and 50 inches wide. It hung on the wall above our kitchen sink. That was the only cabinet Grandma had in her kitchen. When we remodeled the kitchen, Grandma's cabinet came down, but I could not part with it. I gave the remodeling crew strict orders, I want it out in one piece. They told me that they cannot guarantee that it will come out in one piece. I said, ok then you will need to put it back together, because I want it in one piece. They were a bit frustrated, but what the heck. Well, they did it, and now it hangs in our basement, and still an important part of my family home.
Oh, this door has a neat story! I am glad that it came off the wall in one piece, or was put back together. Either way, I love the story

That's great that you were able to take a piece of your grandmother's house. I like doing that...and hanging onto something old and making it new again.

It wouldn't be the same house if a little piece of Grandma was not there. I'm glad you repurposed her cabinet. I have to admire her for keeping a kitchen with only one cabinet! Something tells me she was an awesome cook. Nice story Rick- I'm glad you saved the cabinet.
