I spotted this Amish man as I was out tonight. It appears he was on his way home, perhaps after a hard day's work. This is a common mode of transportaiton among the Amish, but typically you see the younger ones with their foot scooters. Maybe it was his way of staying in shape. I figured it was worth a spot in my album.
Beautiful capture, Rick ... that looks like it's hard work there. Especially if it's hot and humid. Love his whole demeanor. I really admire these people.
I've always been curious of the Amish as their lives are so simplistic and yet something we are forever searching for in ours and we never find because we don't want to give up our mod cons... how ironic is that?
@olivetreeann It is not motorized, and yes, like the old fashion scooters we had as kids. They sometimes make them out of bikes, and then they have two large wheels.
fascinating ... Sometimes I wish I was strong enough to go back to a simpler way of life. On the one hand I'd love that but on the other hand I can't give up all of life's little luxuries ..
Wonderful capture Rick - I have seen the Amish' way of life in Pennsylvania a few years ago & I can appreciate this picture - you've captured it well. Thanks for the views & comments on my Europe & UK photos.- the tour is completed & hopefully things are back to normal in a week or so.
Oh...fav for me. What an intriguing street shot. I am fascinated by the Amish. So this thing is not motorized? That is a load to move if it is not. Love the b and w....that made this shot!
Oh definitely..he looks like he is carefully pushing the scooter ( as kids we called them "roller")..when you're young you can sip along quite fast but for him this looks to me harder than plain walking would be..
