Stefanie's three tomatoe plants were literally knocked over as you can see here when a severe storm went through our area early this evening. We were able to set them back up, and then we went out to buy some additional stakes to offer a little more stability. It doesn't look like the stalks are broken, so we'll see if they survive. Her bleeding heart plant was destroyed.
What a shame ... yes, we had a part of that storm even here in Michigan! I hope that her tomato plants survive alright. It looks like they will. Great capture and pov on this, Rick!
I hope the Bleeding Heart comes back next year, because they are so beautiful. This tomato plant looks pretty substantial even though it's lying down. To look on the bright side, everything is looking greener though. :o)
They will survive! I think the bleeding hearts will come back next year (not an expert though). We saw the storm over us but didn't end up very severe but looked like it had potential
If there is still something in the ground left of the bleeding heart it will survive. we always cut the stems off after blooming and they come back. as for the tomatoes..ours we grow in a steel cone shape frame and the climbers are attached to a steel rod with green twist ties. he can reach up to about eight feet in height. when they get taller the tomatoes usually get smaller in size and will just hang over.
