Overgrowth

This tree seems to be overrun by vines, giving it a very unique appearance.
Beautiful

You might also think of the vines as parasites which gives a totally different feel to the picture!

@allie912 I would agree, this is usually true, but this tree has been like this for the past several years, so it doesn't appear as though it has harmed it, though its growth may have been stunned.

Quite an interesting tree. This could be a spooky halloween zombie reaching out with it's arms!

It looks like it's put on a winter coat!

Wow, it really is overgrown. If it's still alive, I doubt it will be for much longer.

We have a vine here in Australia that does this to trees called the Strangler Fig. It takes over a tree, strangling the life out of it until it dies, then what is left is the hollow of it where the fig has established itself... I remember seeing a lot of them in Vanuatu while I was there too.

Cool find, Rick. The shape of the tree is very interesting visually. We have invasive vines like that all over the Cape. My husband wrestles with some in our backyard every year.

It sure is spooky! Go back in the winter and take a black and white with snow if you can. That would be really cool. Thanks for all of your kind remarks on my pictures over the last year. And also thanks for being kind to Laurie.
