The boys are going in for their grooming tomorrow morning, and we are changing groomers. Kiko on the left has been having a terrible time with dry skin, and he itches terribly. We have tried all kinds of special shampoo, and nothing really seems to help. Toby on the right also has some problems with itching, but not as bad. I spoke with this new groomer because I thought perhaps they could have contracted some kind of dermatitis from the other groomer as I am not sure she sterilizes her equipment thoroughly. This new groomer suggested since Yorkies do have sensitive skins, and are prone to other allergies, she is going to try a special peppermint oil shampoo. We have been using an oatmeal shampoo, but she says that is not recommended because it is very hard to rinse out, and then it clogs the pores and causes excessive flaking. We shall see. So this is a before shot, and tomorrow I will get an after one. They always look so handsome after their grooming.
My labradoodle is very itchy too, so i have taken grain out of her food and that helps a lot. She gets lamb & rice and fish oil..it helps a lot. Good luck to your very cute fur babies
Cute guys! Hope you sort it out for them - animal allergies are always hard to figure out. Do you know if it's specifically the shampoo or their food? Have you tried any food trials or allergy testing?
@kass Yes Kass, we have them on Lamb and Rice now after trying several kinds, and we have been through several special shampoos. Yorkies are known for this. I do give them Puppy Benadryl which does help, but I don't want to keep doing that either.
How can they look any cuter than this. they must be looking forward to a haircut knowing how it feels when it gets too long and heavy. good idea to change groomers. hope this one will get to the bottom of their problem, poor little babies.I know how we feel after a hair cut
awww too bad the litle guys have skin issues. Luna had it once and it was the shamppo they were using at the Pet Shop. Hope your little buddies get well soon.

Such an adorable shot! We took our girls to the groomers yesterday. I should've done a before shot too! I didn't realize that yorkies have allergy/sensitive skin issues. I have noticed Daisy chewing on her paws like they itch and thought it was maybe the grass. Hmmm....I better pay more attention! I hope the boys' new shampoo helps! I would love to know if it does!
