I was beating myself up all Winter long. I forgot to turn off the outside faucet. When I finally remembered, we shut it off, then turned it back on to make sure it wasn't frozen. Well, with the faucet turned off, I spotted water seeping out from behind the siding. the pipe froze, and cracked. So we shut off the main valve. No outside water till it is fixed. Oh boy, that didn't go well. You all know how Josie loves to plant flowers, well this is a problem. Cannot get plants until the water faucet is fixed. Must get it fixed, I want to get plants. So this morning the plumber comes by at 8am. Darn, I had to go into work late. Well, it turns out it wasn't frozen after all. A tiny pin hole due to the age of the pipe. I am innocent. A new section of pipe, and a new freeze free faucet. Go get the plants!
Wouldn't you know and here you thought all along it was frozen. A happy wife again. go take her plant shopping. here we have almost the middle of May and I haven't set foot in a nursery, but then we're a little behind with the warmer weather. my tulips are still in bud. mind you, the daffodils are still beautiful.
I'm quite glad that individuals known as "plumbers" exist in the world (of all infrastructure problems, water-related ones are the wortst). The photo definitely highlights the way a piddly old pipe can take center stage.
