Would you believe I was just reading about this Joanne on Whirlpool and Overclockers. If Pentax dont bring out a ff at Photokina in a couple of weeks (there has been some rumours confirming this) I will jump ship at some point and probably to Nikon. The K-5 I shoot with is an awesome camera (same sensor as the D7000) but there is no upgrade path - so one day I will probably have a Nikon in my hand LOL - I just have to save, save, save LOL!
@kellc It's hard to jump ship when you have spent a lot of $$$ on gear from the one brand. I've been a Nikon user for 20 years and have spent a lot of time and money on all my gear...can't jump ship now. I was thinking of you when I posted it...I do think the price tag is a bit high for this model.
@jdr4690 Yes...I'm picking it up next week.It has it's advantages from my personal point of view...and you don't have to use it on 36 mega pixels....you can drop down to 20 mega pixels.
@kellc There'll be an upgrade path, but not until next year, I reckon. I can't see any FF 'surprise' announcement happening at Photokina, but that big, expensive 500mm suggests to me that there's something in the pipeline :figerscrossed:
Though I'd like some confirmation of that from Pentax before I invest in any new glass...
@intymalcolm I saw that Lens (well a photo of it) very impressive if you were shooting sports or birding - but I wont be holding my breath anytime soon for an announcement! I would still like the legendary 77mm Inty - even if I jump ship I will still keep my Pentax system (and my 15mm)!
@kellc@ayearinthelifeof If you do indeed decide to change brands there are adaptor rings out there (Amazon, mostly) that will fit almost any brand lens to any other brand camera....that way you don't have to get new glass. The caveat is that the light meter or other functions may or may not work. YMMV
@shadesofgrey Oh I can't really see myself changing, I can live without a full frame for the next few years but you never know, stranger things have happened. Anyway what a light meter? haha I rarely use mine as I use Pentax M lens
