Hey, friends!
I want to buy a new camera and I stopped at two! What do you think is better and make better photos with high quality!?

Have you read reviews side by side, and see which settings are on one and not the other? I spent weeks doing due diligence, and am a firm believer as a newbie that the most options you have the better you become.

I am a Canon girl, so I don't know Nikon.....I am sure a lot of Nikoners will be more than helpful.

I did a lot of online research before choosing my second camera but don't let a few negative reviews scare you off. I also recommend going to a store to play with both of them, that way you know how they feel in your hand. Personally I would go with the Nikon 1 J1 due to the fact that you can buy and change lenses but that's just my opinion.

@chard @biki @peterdegraaff Me too , Olympus PEN, mainly for the lens choices and reasonable prices.

The J1/V1 are interesting cameras too if you have Nikon lenses, but the 1 lens choices are limited (a 50 1.8 equivalent coming out soon though).

As of now, I would get an Olympus Pen

I'd go with the V1 over the J1 one right now. The main differences are the V1 has an electronic viewfinder, option to use a mechanical shutter (or electronic shutter), higher capacity battery sharper rear LCD, and is currently cheaper than the J1. (although you do loose the built in flash and would need to pick up an external flash)

Don't know how long the sale will last, but right now it's just $400 from adorama. http://www.adorama.com/INK1V1BK.html?emailprice=t&utm_term=Other&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=Other&utm_source=rflaid63773

@chard @anzere03 @biki With the Olympus PEN not only is there a wide range of Olympus Zuiko lenses but these are also interchangeable with Panasonic micro four thirds (M43) system lenses as well. Third party manufacturers also produce accessories ie Kenko for extension tubes, and adapters will enable other brand and vintage lenses to be able to easily fit.

Thank you for your opinion! I somehow ended up with a Canon Sx40 HS :) And love it...for now! :))

@peterdegraaff one week in and I LOVE the EPL1. waiting for christmas to get the lens adapter for my other Zuiko lenses.

Personally I would go for the P510. I have one and it's brilliant! Amazing zoom 42 x optical. It is easy to learn how to use the different settings like picture control, white balance, etc. and has lots of options to choose from. Great because you don't have to change lenses for different shots and will do everything you want. I love mine

@brumbe I have bought a cheap Fotgavone from Hong Kong so I can use OM lenses. Only cost $14 plus free postage. Fotga is a reasonably good brand. More importantly I got an Olympus VF-2 for the PEN over weekend and an Olympus Macro Converter lens for PEN. The VF-2 is a very cool litte electronic viewfinder which fits into hotshoe. It is great when there is glare or for doing waist level shots. I am now saving for some Kenko DG extension tubes for M43.

Are you playing our roll in a week game?

@peterdegraaff I think my last photo I posted was a great signature shot and I think I am done posting here. I check in every so often. Now I just have to find the time to even post to flickr. I sent you an email about a camera auction today though.

@peterdegraaff I keep meaning to go back to all my followers to thank them for all they have given, but am still bogged down. September and October get so busy for me.
