FB has taken a hard stand on the issue of photo copyright violations. When they have determined someone is doing this, they are swift and thorough in deleting their account. Everything is wiped out, everything. The trend is moving in this direction, as it should.
Here's one of the pages FB shut down This is priceless: "We know of only two infringements – two situations where FB closed our account, and we argue strongly that they were not infringements at all. The problem with this is that you don’t know if what you are posting could irk FB. But even if FB disagrees with the images we posted, are two images enough to kill our account with no chance of recourse?"
I do believe FB has drawn the line in the sand and it's going to hurt some people who are reported and found to be uploading photos without permission. It's a game changer and it won't be long when other websites will follow their lead.
As far as I understand FB isn't targeting shared links. Their whole website would be banned if that was the case. In fact, the whole internet.
We've discussed this quite a few times before but the issue is illegal downloading and uploading somewhere else, pinterest.com comes to my mind. Also, hard coding the photo address into a website so the picture shows from it's original location. Links with thumbnails is not the problem.
This has become a huge problem and is a direct result of the internet. Websites are not normally set up to protect uploaded photos. This site isn't either. So, for now, FB has taken the initiative but they are big and time will tell if they are able to control it on their site.
@steveh --- You may finally have some recourse if other sites start policing their accounts.
@tonydebont Really any limitation on taking pictures of places visible from public access locations should concern us all. There are four refineries and several plants that draw from the refineries in areas that I photograph.
That's too hard to do.... nobody would click them.... that album is the only one that I have that I didn't take the pics or record the videos myself. So I guess I'll remove and apologize to my gals. I don't want my account deleted because of hot actors.

Ummm, yes, 2 images are enough.
