Steven Addis in this film talks about creating our own memories with taking photos, I'd like to share my own story: for both of our daughters -we take a photo of them sitting in a wooden garden chair at the same spot in our garden on their birthday- we started with the 1st birthday ( as in the case of Steven Addis).This photo we put into a picture frame in our hall. Of course the frames grew with the years.Meanwhile we have a huge frame with 17 birthday pics and another one with 14. Not only can we see as the children have grown and changed, but all vistors coming to our house take a look and then start commenting on the photos : the change in the faces, the similaries between the 3 year old on the photo and the teenager beside them, the look alike of the the sisters and so forth. So photographs are not only structuring memories but initiate communication as well. (Hope my story wasn't to boring )
