I have been extremely disappointed with my Nikon D3000 DSLR and am now looking at a Sony Alpha 37. Does anyone have one of these? Are you pleased with it? Thanks!
Sony is producing great camera's. I use A500, but I am looking forward to upgrading in the future to A77. If you like the A37 you wont go wrong. One issue that is worth considering is buying lenses. You did say have much you have invested in Nikon lenses. Sony has it own line of lenses that are good. The Sony G series are great lenses. Ziess, Sigma, Tamron all make A mount lenses to fit Sony. Also Minolta AF lenses fit Sony. The point is that there is a wide selection of lenses for Sony.
@wormentude It doesn't have as many features as I would like, and also I have had a lot of trouble with the focusing and anything macro. It was a good beginner camera, but now I am branching out more and it's just not fulfilling my needs. Also, I may have just gotten a bad one. Not sure.
@chapjohn Thanks for your input! I have only gotten one other lens besides what came with my camera and it was only $100 so I'm not too concerned with that.
I never had any problems with my D3000, you might just got a bad one =( Most if not all entry level cameras lack on all the good features which is why they are so cheap. Maybe you should look into a more expensive model if you are interested in more than the basics. Hope you find the right camera for you!
I am a Sony user. Currently an A77 but also have used A100, A350 and A65.
I have not used the A37 and am not really familiar, but it too is also an entry level camera. Are you sure that it has the extra features that you are lacking in the D3000?
I would look at an A57 if you can. A great little camera from my limited experience of it.
@kaylaspics That makes sense. What do you have in the way of lenses? Cos it might be worth looking for a higher model Nikon (D90 or D7000) to get more features and also be able to use you lenses.

@jsorensenart The main things are video and on-screen viewfinder.
