Cool, I guess the sign of of good powerful photography is that even though these are before my time, I have seen pretty much all of them. Though 33 was a new one one me, and possibly my favourite.
Bigtime, and I doubt the people of 1963, well Americans, as they were all american related apart from 1 or 2, felt that they would be represented in this way? Boiled down to the civil rights movement I guess, what with gay rights and islamophobia right now can we say the process is in the past? And $35 billion spent on the space race to show who had the biggest penis USA or Russia. insane.
@steampowered Thank you for sharing those amazing images. I just can't believe it has been 50 years. I was in kindergarten when JFK was assassinated - I will never forget walking home from school and watching grown men weeping in the streets of New York City that day.
@chewyteeth I have some very vague memories of drills during the cold war where we would all dive under our desks because of course gamma radiation can't penetrate a 3rd grade desk. Even then I remember being balled up on the floor thinking that the Russians would have to be total morons for bombing an elementary school in a small mountain town in North Carolina.
Now in those same classes they have school shooting drills. Sadly more realistic of a scenario.
@aponi
yeah my high school had three supposed IRA bomb threats and we were evacuated in the early 1990s, it never occurred to me at the time that working class teenagers in Manchester weren't really the IRAs main target. Shame we don't learn from how stupid our ancestors were.
