Nearly Threw the towel in !

March 23rd, 2013
My apologies for my latest huge upload of Photos. I nearly decided to stop altogether as I have found it a struggle to have something worth uploading on a regular basis. I really enjoy the 365 Project but it does improve your eye over time and as such makes me more fussy with the shots I take.

I want to only post what I consider are good pictures on here and I find myself taking a load of photos which I end up deleting most of them because I feel they are either no good or that I could have done better with what the results turned out looking like.

One things for sure though by participating in this project it is helping me take better photos so I will continue.

Once Again Apologies for my recent large upload .

@thisisthefox Isn't it about it being a process, rather than posting up perfect photos? Sometimes what I think aren't that good, get lovely comments to boost me to explore further.

that's about when I almost dropped out, keep it up. it gets easier, although you can drop into a rut like I'm in, shooting the same type of shot over and over again. I'm at 7 months now, and I don't even think about it anymore, it's routine.

you might explore some new processing techniques. when my only daily shot turns out hum drum, I seem to be able to pull something out of the hat with a new approach to processing. lots of great free software out there to try, explore some just for fun.

sometimes you have to allow this project to be cathartic, I mean I have accepted below average shots in my project just to "write off" that day. It means you can start afresh again tomorrow. So chucking on a photo that you're not 100% with can feel good for the soul. Try it.

Two of the three pics of mine that made PP were ones I almost didn't upload. For various reasons. ALSO, the three I was sure were awesome ... well ... no PP anyway LOL .... I say "go for the upload!:

I am only new to this too, that is, the project & photography. I agree with Jennie. What I think is a great shot appears to hardly get any feedback and others just seem to spark an emotive response from others. I have only being doing the project since January, but can already see an improvement in my subject selection and looking at everyone else's photos gives me inspiration. Keep at it and good luck!

Don't let your perfectionism get the best of you - post away! The 365 community is very supportive. I have to agree with Dave, too -- I've posted things I haven't been happy with only to find a really positive response. You never know. You have to open the door in order to be able to step through it.

I too have the curse of aiming for perfection - a target often out of reach - but I am quite content to post my best of the day, every day, even if not quite what I hoped to achieve, and am sfrequently surprised when some of these receive applause while those I feel proudest of are scarcely acknowledged.

As other comments here have implied, it is a learning process, and I look on every shot posted as a success, whether the comments serve to justify my own enthusiasm or simply teach me not to try that again! That surely is a true learning experience, whichever way you look at it.

Wow, this is exactly how I've been feeling. Sometimes I find myself just walking around trying to get inspired and every shot I see I think, oh that's boring. I delete so many of my photos lately. The only ones I like are shots of my dog. I just posted about advice for inspiration in blah weather. I started this project to get some passion back for pictures, that I feel I used to have more of.

You have some very nice shots, I would not guess you feel as I do sometimes. Funny. My advice is what I've told myself, no matter what, I post a picture each day. And hopefully more and more they will be shots I really like!

@esolvideosuk @cameronknowlton @bobfoto @dlaxton @cocolil @yellowdog @wordpixman @wordpixman @skpinny Thank - You for all your comments, this post generated a lot of interest and in the main a lot of us despite a struggle are continuing with the Project. One of the Things which keeps me (sorry for the pun) Focused is the 'Word for The Day' . This gives a subject for each day which you need to try and photograph. Whilst I haven't been taking a picture every day I have used this to take pictures making me think out of the box on a lot of occasions. Give it a try for yourself Find out more from this link
