Abandoned buildings from around the world

These abandoned buildings are both beautiful and eerie - I can't help but wonder about the people who lived or worked in some of these places (or locked away for ever).

These are really awesome. I am not 100% sure but I think the abandoned farm and the Willard Asylum are some how connected. Maybe the residents of the Asylum worked the farm or something. I remember hearing about the place but it was after I returned from a trip to that area of NY. Seeing these photos makes me want to go back there :)

My whole month of August was dedicated to one set of abandoned buildings.. It has to be my favourite type of photography:

I've been on a few urban exploration trips. Unfortunately, we have several buildings like this in my area (including #27 on the list) These visits are always interesting, but I always walk away a little sad

This is a concept in Japan as well, called "haikyo." This site has some nice examples from Japan. http://www.haikyo.org Maybe we can spot some haikyo sites of our own on the trip @jyokota and I are planning this summer! http://www.picturejapan.org
