change in perspective?

November 4th, 2010
i decided to ask this question here because i dont have many friends that are into photography. after you started getting into photography did you notice a change in the way you see things? i noticed today when i was staring a railing on an stair case thinking about how the shapes would make a great shot, and i was wondering if anyone else experiences this.

All of the time!

Oh definitely. You notice more detail, you pay attention to things more. I see things very differently. Everything I see is viewed as a potential photograph. I'm constantly taking photos of things most people would think is just weird, half the time with stares from some of those people. But I love it when I get a great shot from something that I wouldn't have looked twice at a few years back. :)

Like seeing thru the viewfinder constantly. It's a good way to see beauty in everything you see.

Yes - sometimes I even think I am weird as I lie flat on my back to get a photo up a tree or secretly snap photos of toilet seat in hardware stores!! You are not alone!!

Nick, I think photographers, and artists look at the world with different eyes than other people.

The answer is yes. And I've been doing it since I was 7. Perhaps why I am a little "different" than the others.

You're not alone!

All the time!

I would think you have always had your perspective but what has changed is your ability to set up a shot.
November 5th, 2010
All the time! There's so many times where I don't have my camera, but I see something and think I wish I had my camera right now!
November 5th, 2010
oh yes and you will see things that you would never have noticed before. You will become much more aware of your surroundings! :D))

Funny you should post your question today. Please read my commentary on my picture for today: http://365project.org/allie912/whatintheworld/2010-11-05

Nick, you bet! I am much more aware of the light around me, and see special things in the mundane.
November 5th, 2010
Yeah, I'm noticing it more and more. :)
November 5th, 2010
Yes, I notice so many more things and I say to myself all the time "This will make a great shot!" ;-)
November 5th, 2010
Yes! I've noticed this too! :) Just like Slava said, I say the same thing to myself haha
November 5th, 2010
Yesss! And I like it. I feel like I see "more" the things around me. I notice the lines, the colors, the light, the way things are placed, the contrasts.... and I love it when I'm with my only friend who is a photography addict, cause I can share it lol. My other friends just think I'm a bit weird (but they still love me ;p )
November 5th, 2010
yeah, definitely. changes your perspective on things. I'd say it can be a dangerous sensation, particularly when you're driving!
November 5th, 2010
Absolutly!
November 5th, 2010
oh my gosh yes! It's like I have a permanent viewfinder in my eyes now. I'm always mentally framing things and wondering if that would make a good picture.
November 5th, 2010
Yep, some days I feel like I have sensory overload. ;-)
November 5th, 2010
@vikdaddy no KIDDING..i can't tell you how often i've caught myself framing things in my head when i'm supposed to be driving...or wishing i was the passenger..
November 5th, 2010
Yep... pretty much all the time... ESPECIALLY when driving!
