Nudity..............

April 29th, 2011
Man, get sick and be away for a day or two and see what transpires!! Nudity on 365...... I think there are other sites for this type of photography. I for one use this site a lot with my daughter, isn't it enough that to turn on the tv and see sex / nudity enough??????? Why here!!??? If this type of photography is welcomed here, I for one will be leaving!
April 29th, 2011
Well you can rest assured that I won't be posting any nude shots of myself in the near future. No one wants to see that, lol.
April 29th, 2011
Can you explain? I haven't happened to see any nudity about the place...

Besides it does depend on the kind of nudity, tasteful nudity shouldn't be disallowed in my opinion, besides the fact that walking down the street shows an insane amount of sexually charged imagery these days...
April 29th, 2011
I have noting against nudity, I think the human body is a very beautiful creation.... I just believe that this is not the place for it!!!
April 29th, 2011
April 29th, 2011
I missed the noodz?
April 29th, 2011
Can you see the penis!!
April 29th, 2011
I didn't see any but then again most of the people I follow are moms with little kids. I have seen some tastefully done in the past on the pop page (shadows or not showing bits and pieces). It wasn't something I had to worry about my kids seeing. I have children who do 365 so I'll have to keep my eyes open.
April 29th, 2011
Mehh, why be shy about the human body
April 29th, 2011
@eyebrows Go on then :p
April 29th, 2011
Whoa that's some full frontal going on!
April 29th, 2011
April 29th, 2011
@bilky Why wouldn't this not be the place for it? Is it not someones art they are sharing? Just like we all do but in different forms.

I don't like bugs. They really creep me out. The macros on here make my skin crawl. But I don't get offended everytime someone post a macro of bugs.
April 29th, 2011
I would hope he would have already seen it by now! I have.................................
April 29th, 2011
Wait, wut. There were naked people on here and *NOBODY TOLD ME* ??? :O

This is a travesty.

Seriously though, this isn't a kid's site. It's nice to browse with your daughter, but it is a photography/art website, anyone can post on it.. some of the greatest sculptures, paintings and photographs are of nudes. Of all the people on here you're expecting that *none* of them ever take a photo of some skin? Come on.

And why should kids be shielded from everything, anyway? I understand that you wouldn't want your children to be confronted by full-on porn, but why shouldn't they see nudity as art? Would you cover their eyes if they saw Michelangelo's "David" ? Or would you be showing them the stunning masterpiece of renaissance sculpture? Maybe these photos aren't quite that.. but they certainly aren't disgusting. And if you do see something that really isn't art, just report it to Ross who will delete it, if he agrees with you.

Seriously.
April 29th, 2011
@eyebrows I for one am not a shy person... There is a place.....
April 29th, 2011
@meggageg I can't believe some people's comments.... I THINK there might be a difference between putting a photo of a penis and a photo of a bug...
April 29th, 2011
@bilky just a suggestion, simply dont FOLLOW d person .........
April 29th, 2011
@bilky My screen is too dark to see anything in that photo. I'm sure if my laptop was charging it would be brighter and show a lot more. I can't see anything below the belly button. If he was someone I followed I wouldn't have noticed it but my children might have if my screen was brighter. I might have to go back to doing 365 after the kids go to bed.
April 29th, 2011
@pwallis :D

I'm curious if anyone used the magnifier. Perverts.

April 29th, 2011
I honestly don't understand what's wrong with children seeing nudity. True enough its everywhere now, so how is it taboo or immoral?
April 29th, 2011
@indiannie_jones This made me lol out loud.
April 29th, 2011
@katiegc24 :) it had to be said

Also, I think OP has deleted already :/
April 29th, 2011
@indiannie_jones Oh my. That is just sad.
April 29th, 2011
Failing to get offended here...

Besides I'd have thought people could find more offensive things than that to worry about...
April 29th, 2011
@gavincci HAHA! :D

Eh, to each their own @katiegc24

Not the first time the drama llama has stopped by 365 @killerjackalope
April 29th, 2011
@indiannie_jones hahaha you should be so lucky! :P
April 29th, 2011
I'm a parent...I talk like a sailor and nothing makes me blush. But I sure as hell don't want to stumble upon some dude's dong...especially when my kids are around.

Maybe we need to all adopt an unwritten rule of putting NSFW in the title of our images when we feel the need to take pictures of twigs & berries.
April 29th, 2011
@eyebrows Hey I'm not here to endorse nudity :p
April 29th, 2011
@indiannie_jones You're hilarious
April 29th, 2011
@kellyjo26 Why thank you :)
April 29th, 2011
I don't have kids and but there is no age limit for this site either. I believe there is a way to do photography with nudity with an artistic class and others with distastful inappropriateness -- however, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and everyone has their opinions on what is art and what is trash. I suggest following those you wouldn't expect to put up dirty photo! =X
April 29th, 2011
wowza. i missed that one. I think it's fab.

if you've got kids who haven't seen a penis yet, they won't recognize this as one. just sayin. @mrspitts09
April 29th, 2011
@indiannie_jones I know but nudity isn't offensive...

Couldn't we go with some good old fashioned bigotry or a war on some other abstract topic...

I'm nudity's side, it's fun... Also just remembered the clinton joke in family guy, it's a great day to be nude, oh it's a great day to be nude, the birds are singing clinton have a wonderful sping, strangers can stop and look at my thing...
April 29th, 2011
@killerjackalope Haha! Your memory surpasses mine.

Not very much is legitimately offensive though... but eh.
April 29th, 2011
@indiannie_jones Seems Bilky is no longer with us. I wanted to ask how she happend to "stumble upon" the weenie pic. dammit. maybe tonight i will browse the "nude" tag too and then delete myself.
April 29th, 2011
@indiannie_jones I think it struck a chord with me...

Jellyfish are legitimately offensive. They're dicks.

@sdpace That sounded brutal, just sayin'
April 29th, 2011
@katiegc24 "Would you cover their eyes if they saw Michelangelo's "David".... This is a very good point! An artist creates their art mostly for themselves, and the viewer is an after thought. I myself have 2 young daughters, and while I wouldn't want them seeing overtly sexual nudity- simple, tastefully done nudity doesn't bother me. I also understand other people's opinion on this- I'm not sure what the right answer here is though. This site wasn't created for children- it was created to share our love for ALL forms of photography, but I think it is great that people want to share this love with their children. Tagging photos NSFC or adding that to the title isn't something that should be forced on anyone and wouldn't stop the image from showing up on the home page, PP, etc. I wonder what Ross @Scrivna has to say on the subject...
April 29th, 2011
@sdpace rofl *pauses as is still laughing*

They really serve no purpose whatsoever. @killerjackalope
April 29th, 2011
@killerjackalope what was brutal? that kids wouldn't recognize the penis? i just meant if they haven't ever seen one, they wouldn't know that this was one...same for the first time you see anything in your life. What's that? She coulda told them it was a pet bunny rabbit. Or turtle.
April 29th, 2011
@sdpace All well and good until... MOM CAN I GET A TURTLE TOO?
April 29th, 2011
@sdpace hahahaha. Turtle. hahahaha! That was probably the funniest bit about this thread.
I'm sorry to see that Bilky has taken herself off the site though - she was posting some amazing macros that I regularly commented on, and really, I thought that was what this site was for, sharing what brings you joy. And if someone doesn't dig it - they don't have to look, comment or follow.
Come back Bilky:(
April 29th, 2011
@indiannie_jones "when you grow up, dear"
April 29th, 2011
I personally wouldn't do nudes or expose my daughter to porn or anything like that but I would like her to think of the body s something beautiful and artistic not something just for makin babies with. I believe thats what *tasteful* nudes help get show it as artistic
April 29th, 2011
@sdpace I know what you meant, was just making the joke... To be fair it's not painfully obvious...

The animal suggestions could end up rather damaging in later life though :P

@indiannie_jones I hope you're talking about jellyfish...
April 29th, 2011
@rebcastillo77 Thank you. :) nothing wrong with a bit of artistic nudity in anyone's life, at any age, in my opinion. :)
April 29th, 2011
@killerjackalope Haha, YES! Jellyfish are useless. Jellyfish. That's it.

April 29th, 2011
@indiannie_jones That's ok then... ;p
April 29th, 2011
Why in the world is a naked human being offensive? We all get naked sometimes. This thread is ridiculous.
April 29th, 2011
*streaks through thread*

Also, :D @killerjackalope
April 29th, 2011
I, being a mother, understand the concern about nudity on the site. If I had a daughter and she saw the picture posted earlier I would simply explain to her that they are merely boy parts. She has parts that make her a girl, and boys have parts that make them boys. There is nothing to be ashamed of. That and you can barely even see the penis! You almost have to actually be looking to find it! It was shadowed very nicely with only the very tip showing. I think the person who did this photo did it very artistically. Photography is a form of art - even nude photography.

Its not like people are creating porn and posting it here. The difference between porn and what I've seen here is porn is made strictly for sex. There was nothing that screamed sex here. By no means did it seem like anyone was trying to be inappropriate. There is no age limit on here, nor is it hidden/private from "outsiders". Therefore, yes, posting nudes should be done tastefully and artistically, not dirty and porn-ish. But at the same time this isn't a site MEANT for kids. Yeah, there may be some on here, but its not like it was made specifically for children. So just like tv or any other internet site, parental discretion is advised! This obviously isn't Photobucket where nudies get deleted, but those are people purposely posting nasty photos. Like I said, I have yet to see any photos that seemed "trashy" here.

Final thought:
Art is art and should not be banned no matter what the content. Do you take your kids to the art museum? They have nude sculptures/paintings there.... what's the difference between that and photographs?
April 29th, 2011
@sdpace " I wanted to ask how she happend to "stumble upon" the weenie pic." im soo curious too , thats why i told her simply not to follow the guy .....
April 29th, 2011
@indiannie_jones Haha I was thinking about that, got dressed though...

Now I've got very sidetracked...
April 29th, 2011
@killerjackalope By what? :)
April 29th, 2011
@indiannie_jones Well when you were streaking there was this incredibly interesting, uh cloud, yeah cloud right behind you...
April 29th, 2011
@killerjackalope I missed it :(
April 29th, 2011
wow, is it just me or did you all sufficiently alienate this user for being offended? I didn't think this community was like that. It's as if you were all straight up making fun of her for being offended.
(Waiting for the guns to turn on me now that I've said this....tick tock tick tock)
April 29th, 2011
Definitely not offended or shocked. This is a site for artists (and aspiring artists) to show their photography. In my opinion, it is very simple. Don't like a picture? Don't look at it. Don't like a specific photographer? Don't follow them. No reason to decide for someone else what is and isn't art by telling them what they can and can not post. Like I said, very simple. =)
April 29th, 2011
@amyhughes I hope I didn't :/ I generally try to make light of any situation.

Truth be told, I don't like looking at nekkid strangers. Men or women.
April 29th, 2011
@bilky I'm sorta shocked at the lack of respect. There's a general too bad, in your face going on here. Many things can be beautiful but many things need to be shielded from innocent eyes. I think anyone who's taken aback by nude images on here is just asking for a warning, not to be lashed out by those with differing views.
April 29th, 2011
@amyhughes I think that if she left because of this discussion then that's all on her. I've been lurking and never got the impression she was being made fun of. On the contrary, people were expressing their own opinions as she had and made helpful suggestions to simply not follow people who post such pictures. Even though things got a little silly (much to my amusement) I didn't take that as an attack upon her opinion. If she did she must be very touchy about the subject and not open to hearing opposing views.

I must hang out in much worse message boards than you guys if you think this thread got ugly. I've seen lashing out on full display there and this really didn't seem like that to me.
April 29th, 2011
@sourkraut Haha, I've seen worse too. The internet can get ugly.
April 29th, 2011
@amyhughes I think she was mostly offended that we weren't. I've seen a thread like this before, and the same irony occurred....the offended party brought light to the photo, even going so far to post it in the thread so anyone who might not have otherwise seen did. That's the funny thing to me. It's like online "well! I never!" gossip. She outrightly stated if the photo was ok for the site, she wouldn't be part of it. She has now brought it to the forefront, and most vocal users don't seem to mind it...and she effectively said "omg look at this!" to everyone who will be offended. IMO, she should have kept it to herself or sent a private message to Ross with her inquiry instead of shoving an anchovy Into everyones mouth saying, "hey! This tastes like shit! Taste it!" (shit not having anything to do with the photo, but her apparent offended mentality).
April 29th, 2011
I agree, the thread did get a little on the silly side, which was certainly entertaining enough to follow, but I don't think anyone was straight up making fun of her. I like Bilky, she always finds something she likes about my photos, even if some of them weren't really maybe her thang. But I was surprised and disappointed to see she deleted her account - I hope she changes her mind - I really really enjoy her photos.
April 29th, 2011
I've been lurking, and this is a very funny thread. I thought everyone was making light of the situation, not making fun of her, but maybe I took it too lightly? That's sad she deleted her account :(

I'm obviously not against nude photos, since I have one of myself. I think it's tastefully done and would not be ashamed if children, including my daughter, saw it. If it wasn't tastefully done, I wouldn't post it on the internet, period. I'm sort of a hippie though, so I don't think she should be ashamed of her body, no matter how it looks. Just my thoughts...
April 29th, 2011
...This thread makes me want to start a separate 365 where i only shoot artistic noodies..

This is the internet... If youre THAT opposed to youre children seeing noodies then dont let them on the internet b/c its going to happen one way or another. (Trust me there are plenty of ways around your "Parental controls" and any kid smart/determined enough will likely find them) Quite frankly there are much worse things then noodies shown on TV these days as it is.

Theres nothing wrong w/ artistic views of the human form. There is also QUITE a difference btwn pr0ns and artistic noodies.

That being said, a "safe search" option similar to Flickr or even Google search would be a nice feature to add for those who are so vehement about staying away from noodies. I think it would bring an end to this persistent discussion as well... i think theres been over 9000 threads in the past week or so about posting n00ds..
April 29th, 2011
@3nder Someone's been on 4chan for too long :p
April 29th, 2011
@indiannie_jones Lies lol.. Least, not anymore haha
April 29th, 2011
Art is art. If it's done tastefully, I have absolutely zero problem with it. Heck, considering the fact that a high percentage of us here are doing this project to better their skills, honing them to the point of being able to execute a properly done, artistic nude is quite a challenge. I'll admit, it's on the list of "things I'd like to try", but I don't exactly have any acquaintances that either 1) I'd be comfortable asking or 2) would be comfortable posing; especially if there was a chance of the image being viewed...which kind of defeats the purpose. Heck, I'm not yet really comfortable asking friends to pose for photos in full dress, let alone nude.

All of that said, the image in question I find no reason to be offended by. I had to spend a fair amount of time figuring out just what I was looking at - I was only viewing the photo as shown in this thread. It wasn't until I clicked through to the full size that I figured out what the OP deemed offensive. My only take on it is, if you find offense in a photo that has to be examined that closely to find the "offensive" material, you're probably the type of person that frequently LOOKS for a reason to be offended, and frankly, I have no interest in placating those types of people. The fact that the OP deleted their account when nobody agreed with her only cements that opinion.
April 29th, 2011
there's a time and place for unrestrained nudity. Apparently at my Nana's funeral was not one of them. Oh well you live and learn.

Here though, fine. Like someone said already, you don't have to follow anyone you don't get/like.
April 29th, 2011
Kinda sad bilky deleted her account. I think she was My first follower. damnnn it. This is a good community, I feel everyone is right in expressing their opinions..
April 29th, 2011
@3nder :D
Thanks for your participation, this thread has now been closed.
