Aand we thought having our 365project photo copied was frustrating (which it is!). This poor fella had his unique photo stolen, copied, reproduced, etc. hundreds of times, often for a profit to the thief. I am not sure if this has been posted yet or not, I just found it yesterday and wanted to share it with the good folks of 365.
Different laws for different countries I guess, pretty sad. What a great shot, he was real cool about the artists using it, for the protests and such. Really makes you think about what to, and not to, post.
@datsyukian Great, but sad story. It would be so expensive for him to take all the people that have used his image to court. Hopefully he can get some great commissions off it now though! It is a very striking image.
@holly_kate It sure is sad, and it probably would be a small fortune to cover court costs. Hopefully he now gets enough recognition and maybe some more work from this.
Wow. Thanks for sharing. What is the latest now of this issue? did he sue all of this people who stole it? is he making money now for him with this pictures?
wow that was a great link. A really cool guy and a shame he didn't make a million or whatever but that's his photo and face as the symbol of resistance in Iran!
@blueburn11 I am not sure where things are with him now, I haven't researched any farther than happening upon the link. I do feel for the guy though, what a great shot, and so many just used it without permission.
@rich57 Exactly, too bad he wasn't compensated financially. And yes, great to see it at least used for some good. He did seem to like the resistance symbol usage.
Thank you so much for sharing this. It is scary and hopefully he will get work and recognition from this scandel even if he cant make money from these people. I wonder if he could stop it from been used from now on!
Wow, I am so frustrated for him. I would be both angry and complemented. Angry at my image being used without compensation, but complemented that so many people enjoy my work.
