This is happened to me too! Look on the side of the memory card and usually theres a little switch thing and slide it. It usually slides from being put into the computer or your camera, Good luck!

does it need to be reformatted. If you just delete off the card it starts to lose a bit of spunk where it always stores photos. I was recently told to reformat it each time.

Frist, check to see if the lock switch has been moved, as Abbey said above.....you shouldn't have to reformat the card every time...once it's formatted, it's good. I think the card may be old, and the contacts are just wearing out from being taken in and out of the camera repeatedly. One last thing to check is the camera batteries...if the batteries are low, it may affect the ability for the camera to process images on the card.....good luck

In I situation I had a while back, I realized that if I just dragged and dropped the pics into the trash to "empty" the card, then the card was not really being totally emptied and soon got clogged up. I either re-format, as was suggested above, or use a program (in my case, iPhoto) to remove the images from the card.

Forgot to mention, you could check the size of the card and how much space is being used to know if your card is actually empty when you think it should be. On a Mac, I just right clic on the card file and click "get info". I can't remember exactly how to do that on a PC but you probably already know how.

You can try this to recover pictures from the card: http://www.piriform.com/recuva

Otherwise, try formatting the card as mentioned above.

i've also had an instance where the slider actually came out of the card itself... not great
