Since many of us have just finished our 365 project for 2011, I thought I'd share an idea of how to preserve the project. I know lots of folks have been discussing creating a 365 book, and I'll probably do that too. But I was getting overwhelmed by trying to upload all my photos to Shutterfly or Blurb and so I decided to do something a little more simple and thought I'd share it here.
I have a Mac app called Posterino http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/posterino/id412411033?mt=12
It allows you to create all sorts of poster designs for your photos. It even has a 365 Poster design. I decided not to use that because all the images had to be horizontal, plus, once again, I was a bit overwhelmed at the thought of having to collate all 365 images from the year. So, I chose a poster design and used some of my favorite images from the year. Here's the result:
I've uploaded that image to Shutterfly and ordered a 20 x 30 poster I can put in my home office or at work.
What are some ideas you are implementing to preserve your 365 project (other than books)? This is such a wonderfully inspiring site, and I love all the creative inspiration I receive from you.
I'm not doing it (due to lack of space and money), but another option would be to use a digital photoframe and have your photos cycling on it, so you could see the year pass.
Wow - I love this poster! A great idea. How much will this cost to have done? I finish in March so I have some time yet, but would love to do this as well as a book. @otprofsp @wormentude - A digital frame is also a great way to go too! I have one going right now and it's always refreshing to see!
I'm planning to get a photo book made with all 365 photos, but it will take an age to sort out.
I've also considered doing a poster print, but not sure if I've got the patience to do both!
I know somebody on instagram once showcased a mosaic created with a program that creates a mosaic with all her pictures on her hard drive/folder on the computer. She uses it as her screensaver. The tool/program automatically arranges the tiles to show a meaningful shape (person, object,...). Each tile in that mosaic is one of her picture, and the shape that comes out changes with each picture added to that folder. This could be good as a screensaver than printing though but still inspirational to look at.
I'm sorry I don't remember exactly what tool it is, anybody know about this? I might dig and find later.
Really neat idea. I didn't use all my photos but what I did was upload my photos I took throughout the project of my sons and made a video of them. http://365project.org/coolgirlsar/365-extras. You can also then buy the video if you want.
I have posterino as well and was going to do the 365 template, but like you said...a bit overwhelming and all horizontal. I'm still trying to decide what to do...
Love the poster idea. I will be doing a book, but I'm sure it will take me forever. Thanks for sharing your poster idea. Awesome image and what an amazing keepsake!
I really like the digital frame idea, thanks Rachael. I was going to make a scrapbook also and include twelve of my favorites of the year. It'd be lovely to include all of them but a tad time consuming so the digital frame is definitely on my list of things to do now.
This is gorgeous! I'm on page one of my Blurb book - I think it might be June by the time I finish it. I'm using the download version 'medium customisability'. It should be quicker once I get to the the photos that I was sensible enough to put in a separate folder but I've got a lot of learning to do with the program itself!
@judithg I'm the same as you on Blurb. I got a nice fat Blurb gift card for Christmas but I am still struggling to decide what to do with my front cover haha! It's currently on the back burner as I have Masters exams in a fortnight, but planning on stepping up a gear after that :)
@wormentude That's a great idea - I've only just started, but I think I might start that throughout the year with an existing digi frame. Might give me motivation to keep going if I'm stuck, seeing it right there in front of me!
I've already got a file on my harddrive (which I'll back up regularly), just for my 365 photos, so they're organised when I'm ready to do something.
I'd love to do the book. Maybe I should start putting it together mid-year! That way come January, it won't be so daunting. And I might finish it within a few months of finishing the project! The only thing is, I need to know who I'm going through to get the book done to get started on it...

The link takes you to another version which you can zoom in on :)

@otprofsp Fantastic poster!
