S.S.S (Same Subject Shooters)

January 3rd, 2012
I have noticed some new faces here at 365 (of course I did it's the beginning of a new year) what intrigues me most about some of these is that it looks like they are shooting their projects with the same subject.
I would love some clarification on this matter and it would be great to know I'm not the only overly ambitious crazy person (you really do have to be at least partally in touch with your crazy side to do this) out there.

So if you or someone you know is attempting this amazing feat of creative muscle flexing please feel free to shout about it.

*puts hand up*

I am concerned my little bot won't last the whole 365 days (a slight accident with a puddle today nearly ended him just 3 days in!) but hopefully he'll last and I'll be able to come up with new ideas.

Got to say, I'm so impressed with your project! Brilliant how you're still creating really interesting and creative shots. I hope mine is half as good as yours after 100+ days!

@brokendoll Thanks so much. Where did you get your bot? Can you get a few (for just in cases) or possibly make a few. I know this feeling I have only the one bottle and have not seen another like it. I almost lost mine on day 76. I put it on the roof of my van to photograph it, it was cold so I was in a hurry. i shot picked up my camera and tripod jumped in the van and off I went. To my horror I heard thunk, thunk, thunk on the roof as the bottle rolled. I thought it had rolled off and shattered on the pavement below..........Thank goodness for roof racks :)
I wish I had better suggestions for keeping your bot in tact.
Good luck.

It's part of a calendar, for each month you get a bot to make. This one was my favourite so went with it. If he does break then I'll probably keep on shooting him in pieces - a head here or there, a taped leg, a stapled arm... I'll somehow keep him in every picture.

Argh, that must have been awful! Thank god it was ok, I think if mine had lost out to the water today it would have been ok to start again after only 2/3 shots but at 76 - yikes!

Looking forward to seeing more of your pics!

@shuterfly Oh! Having begun to follow your photos, my heart stopped as I read your post! I'd be devastated if that bottle broke, can't imagine how you'd feel!

@brokendoll Love the bot! Good work, I'm looking forward to following you too. :)

@shuterfly I'm not shooting the same subject for my entire project but I own BJDs (ball-jointed dolls) and they have and will continue to make appearances. I think your project with the bottle is amazing! I'm thinking of taking part in your Same Subject Challenge but I'll have to figure out what I'm going to use first. (Might be a bottle, too! *LOL* )

I'm doing a same type of subject theme for the entire 365 as well, although it's not just a single subject. My theme is my ball jointed dolls, but it's not the same doll every day - although now I just upgraded to Ace membership, so maybe I could devote an album to doing a 365 project on one doll.

I'm really intrigued by the same subject shooters, I'm impressed you can keep it interesting for so long. I'm really close to going ace so I can try my own album for it. How do you choose your subject though?

I was given the bottle by a friend who picked it out of a box of free stuff. They knew I liked little trinkets like that to photograph. I had a few ideas when I first saw it and decided to give it a try for a 365. I choose my subject on a whim. It's been working so far.

@brokendoll has inspired me to look for something equally cute to photograph n lots of different situations. I think I'll dedicate my third album to the character I choose. But I'm going to think really carefully about the character - I want waterproof, knock-proof, small and cute...once I find the perfect character I think it'll be great fun to do. For now Little L Bot is keeping me entertained!!
