I started using this site on 3rd Jan. My friend told me about it, and since I'd been given a lovely camera for Christmas, I thought I'd and put it to good use :o)
Good luck to all the newbies out there. I am into my 2nd year and @flamez1 I am so glad I found this thread as I didn't realise I wasn't still following you - you really started anew!! Looking forward to your pics again :)
Hi, I have just joined. My friend submitted last year and I really enjoyed her photos. I have to admit I have no photography knowledge at all so I am hoping to grow and learn this year. It will be interesting to see the difference at the end of this year
I am new here and started 1st Jan, along with my sister-in-law @gidders1. Finding it a real distraction from what I should be doing.. haha.. but great community!
I'm new this year! I've always taken loads of photos. This year one of my friends said he was doing this and asked if I wanted to join in. Naturally I said yes! gonna be fun!
I started on 2nd Jan, a day late and hope I will be able to finish the whole year. I have to try and find inspiring subjects to be able to complete the project.
started mid last year and lasted a few months, started the year before and lasted about 6 months, starting fresh at the start of this year, with ACE membership so i have more incentive :-)
@jo365 ~ thankyou :) ... hoping to do a full year this time , i must admit tho i will be repeating some of last years shots just because i enjoyed doing them so much lol
I started on the 1st after looking into it for a few months. This site has made it so easy to do so far (I am still on holidays though, it will be interesting to see how I go once I'm back at work next week!). This is such an inspirational community and I love looking at the other pics that are posted each day too :)
@marymosull We've had this conversation somewhere before and the consensus was that it is the "365" project and not the "1 year" project so its immaterial if the year is a leap year or not, that said however it is entirely a personal project so if you choose to make it a 366 project that is up to you, I was thinking of doing the 365 days and on day 366 putting a video clip or something yet to be decided :D
I was checking out this site for a while bit wanted to wait and start properly on Jan 1. You all should be glad I did because I spared you from snapshots of random things. My Facebook friends got that privilege. Although my photography skills improved a lot since last three months, I still have a lot to learn and I'm pretty sure I'm in the right place.
i heard about the 365 idea a while ago but i decided to do it this year. I t sucks that i don't have an actual camera so i have to use my phone. But i think its going to be interesting to see what i can do with what i have.
I started on the 1st of January and am slightly worried that my pictures won't be pretty enough. I'm here to document my, slightly unusual, life rather than improve my photography skills.
Anyone feel slightly intimidated?
All these competitions, is there ever a competition for people who just use camera phones with no editing?
I started January 1! I also received a new camera for Christmas and am looking forward to figuring out how to use it. I am hoping posting to this site will encourage me to explore the different things I can do with my camera. Can't wait to see what all I can come up with and looking forward to seeing everyone else's pics.
n00b here; started January 1st. I have no illusions. I probably won't make the entire year... but I'm certainly going to give it a good try. I'm really enjoying myself so far. I have a Canon point and shoot.. so my pics will be.. well, what they are. :)
@calx - I'll follow you. Going now to comment on your photos!
January 1st newbie here too! I've always had a love of photography but recently in the past 6 months or so, have really become, more or less, obsessed with it. Not sure if that is good or bad but I'm having a great time at it. So let the FUN begin! Welcome to all the other 01/01/2012 newbs as well!
I started January 1st...heard about the project from a friend and wanted to make a resolution that I thought I could finally keep. I love taking photos so this was my resolution this year to take a photo a day...easy right? we'll see!!! :)
I just started January 1! Saw the idea on Pinterest and went searching and found this site. I'm having a lot of fun with it so far! I love the calendar view!
I started early a few days before the New Year to "test" it out. I liked the site, so I purchased an Ace. I started my main project on the 1st. Which is basically the same theme for 365 days.
I started on January 1st this year as well. I can tell already that it will be quite a challenge. My motivation is learning about the art of photography.
@markolver I don't have much knowledge of photography and certainly none of photoshop... I can just about cope with red eye removal... but I am going to follow you .. nosey to know where you year will take you :)
My friend did it last year and I saw her start it up again, so I decided to join her. I am taking photography classes and hope this project helps inspire me!
@markolver You could start a discussion to see if anyone is interested....and run your own competition. Aside from the weekly theme comp. put up by ross, all the others are user run.
I started on January first as well. I really hope this is something I will keep doing until the end. I love snapping photos, and I chose to do this project to challenge myself. I am hoping to check a few things off of my bucket list by the time this is over too.
@markolver I'm still a beginner , started with a tiny tiny compact. Just remember to have FUN and enjoy the company. I found the members just SO encouraging. WElcome.
I love taking photos. That's it. So the challenge to take a new photo everyday seemed like a good choice. Mostly I shoot on weekends. I like the challenge of photographing the mundane as well as the interesting parts of my life. And seeing the vast array of posted photos is a great learning tool. Started on January 2 or 3 and back posted a few December photos. January is always such a dull month for me, this will be quite the push to get something on the boards everyday.
I started January 1st. I only got my DSLR in Oct of last year, but have been working hard to really learn it. This is a great opportunity to make sure i take constant pictures.
Another 365 virgin here, determined to start on the 1st of January and finish on the 31st December 2012. Without putting a dampner on things I wonder what the average staying power of the January noobs is? I reckon lots of us will fail to make it past February! You won't last long, you won't last long and you most certainly wont last long! Hehehe just joking :-)
I'm another Jan 1st newbie. I didn't plan to do this at all, I just sort of stumbled upon the site. SO far am enjoying looking at people's pictures and trying to take a few myself. This is a leap year so does that mean we should really be doing 366 projects?
Me too, i've started a 365 before, once I got to Feb and last yr I got to August, and yes I really wished I finished it!!, I really love the creativity on here.. one day that'll be me, once i practise more with my camera lol!!
I started this year as well. A friend did it last year and it was interesting to see her pics each day. I back dated a couple of favorites to get me started. I'm a midwife, so should be able to get some good "work" shots, and I.m guessing my 4 legged substitute kids will get a look in as well. Looking forward to the challenge
i started january 1st as well !New year, new projects ! i think its a great moment... In about two weeks im starting a photography course so i'm eager to learn and improve.
Me too! Started for a second time on January 2012. I finished my first year in March 2011 and made a photo book out of my photos which my family LOVES. So I decided to do it all again starting on the calendar year. Good luck to all of you who've also started on the 1st!! 19 days down!! :)

How long does it take for people to start viewing your photos.. I have a couple followers... I guess I am a needy photographer!

I started on January 1, been photographing most of my life. Love it and now I have even more incentive to photograph something everyday.

I plan on taking pictures of my Ball Jointed Dolls every day. (:
