The idea of doing a 365 project, as its name hints, is indeed to do *something* 365 times, be that "attempt to be a bit creative", or "journal the goings on in your life", or "achieve something new and challenging".
It is, of course, entirely up to you though. Nobody's going to delete your account if you upload old stuff or anything :)
I back filled part of December so I could get a running start. I shoot mostly on weekends, so starting on a Tuesday to take photos around the house - so to speak- wasn't very representative of my passion. I think it will be obvious during a year of daily photos that I am more adventurous on weekends.
i try and take a new shot each day, but sometimes i will use ones taken over a couple of days. I have never loaded old photos, but i intend to get a neg scanner and maybe my 3rd year wil be a memory a day type thing
as everyone else has said all the projects are personal to you so it depends what you want to get out of it everyone uses the project differently so no one is going to judge you if you put fillers into your project.
Thanks everyone.. I am thinking photo every day. I am already getting used to carrying my camera with me. I was just thinking ahead for those days where it may be difficult... will aim for a new photo everyday of course. :)

The "something" would have to begin with "H" as well. So, a hairy helicopter would do; a hairy cyclist would not.

Yes - last year, lots of people took part in "The Alphabet Challenge", shooting something beginning with each letter, over twenty-six days. I didn't do it, because I don't know my ABCs, but if you search for its tag you'll be able to see all the pictures from those who did take part - there were some very creative ideas coming out of that, I seem to remember.
