Maximum file size - emailing.

January 15th, 2012
I attempted to upload a file via email earlier today & it didn't work. (It was 1044kb); I tried resizing to quite a bit smaller & it did.

I've found the help files that said that the max size for a file in general is 10MB, so I'm well under that. I've also resent the email with the big file to an alternative email a/c - and it arrived there, so clearly it wasn't my email objecting to a too big attachment.

Was it a co-incidence - or is there a maximum file size for email? (And, if there is, would it be useful to myself & others if it emailed you back to say it was too big?)

Thanks.

It may have just been a server time-out error. Sometimes you can change your timeout settings (even within your email client) to remedy this.

You will probably have less troubles using the direct uploader, rather than email.

You emailed it to your 365 specific address? If so, you need to go the upload page, it should be there. I have only tried once and thats where I found it after much head scratching.

I have uploaded larger files than that by email before.

Thanks, All.

Shades, guess I didn't explain myself fully - I knew that you had to go to the upload page after emailing & complete the info.

The smaller one I sent was there; it was just the bigger one that wasn't.

Clearly it was just a glitch at the time.
