Suggestions on where I can go to take Pictures?

So my last shot I posted was an HDR shot of my baby girl's toy and Hee commented and asked why not try outdoor HDR which got me to thinking about when I am going to get out of the house. I was raised that the parents didnt just go galavanting around leaving the kids with babysitters so as a result I haven't taken time for myself, which is why you see shots mostly of my kids. But thinking about what Hee asked me I want to start getting out more often and making time for myself and my photography so my question is, does anybody have any suggestions for where I can go and take my camera with me. I live in Sacramento, Ca. the nearest places to me being Roseville , Citrus heights and North highlands. I dont have babysitters and I always feel guilty for asking Mom and Dad to watch My kids so sometimes I may have to take them with me (which could make things interesting = D ) . If any of you who have knowledge of places in california where I can go I would appreciate the suggestions.

Old Sacramento and the train museum?

Those are the two places I think of when I think of Sacramento.... Maybe the Capitol.

What types of things are you looking to shoot?

the possibilities are endless. there can be a tiny corner of a building that has amazing texture. or a beautiful tree you pass everyday, a shot of a horizon. traffic can even be interesting. honestly once you start to see photo ops you will see them EVERYWHERE!!!!! just be open and try and see things a little differently! i think you will be surprised. You don't need a crazy out of the world location (although those are awesome too) you just need a eye to see the beauty!!!!

@ Josh- Anything without people. Fear of people and what they think of me is something I have yet to overcome so it does affect my ability to take pictures. @ Jessica- funny how i forgot that. Your answer makes so much sense . will give it a try. thanks

hi, rachel. if you don't want to leave the children with someone else, why not take them to a nearby neighborhood park? if they become cranky or if they don't really wanna be outside, then you can just pack up and go home in an instant. i have a home day care and i take 6 children to the park everyday which i absolutely love. it's a small park near my house and cars can't go in it so when the children are busy playing amongst themselves, i try to shoot a little. there's always something to take a picture of even if it's just a park. parks also make for good settings =)

There's a huge aquarium place downtown, Capital Aquarium 1920 29th Street, and the Sacramento Zoo in Land Park which is also right next to FairyTale Town, solely for kids and outside. In fact, I would say all of Land Park is a good place to go!

I am the same way with my daughter. I was specifically told by my mom that if I wasn't going to be the raising my kids, i.e. not leaving with babysittters, then don't have them. I moved away from my family and don't have anyone to babysit so I take my daughter everywhere with me. Libraries, parks, hike and bike trail, public pools or just random shopping trips to the mall. Also, here in central Texas there is a wealth of festivals and public events that I love to go to. Just take her wherever and bring the camera just in case you see something interesting. I think that you are overthinking this.
