Should I take my camera back??

July 1st, 2010
I just bought my new camera a couple weeks ago, I have 90 days to bring it back and I think I might have to.

I have not dropped it, got it wet, nothing.... a few times it has taken a while to process the picture after taking it. Then today I took a couple of movies in the backyard and it worked fine. Not even an hour later I went to take another movie inside and it froze, I had to take the battery out and put it back in. I tried to view the video and it said there was no image data in the spot the movie was supposed to be in. Then I tried to take a movie 2 more times and it said "Cannot record movie"

Does anyone know what may be the problem?? Its a Nikon Coolpix S6000 if that helps. I would hate to take it back because they didnt have anymore and I got it on sale and I dont want to be without a camera again :( but I dont want to keep a camera thats not going to work right.

I'd take it back to where you got it and have them take a look at it. Maybe they can identify the problem. There might be a faulty piece of equiptment in the camera that they can replace. If they can't fix it, I'd replace it for a different camera, different model/brand, etc.

I'd say take it back, its not fun working with equipment that is partially broken. And who knows, maybe its a software issue and if you keep using it then the camera won't work. That would be terrible!
So I say it is better to be safe than sorry.

This sucks because I really like the camera :/

Try a different SD card. If you have a bad card, it can lock up the camera, or make it run slow.

Thanks everyone I took it back and got a new one. They were really nice about exchanging it. I tried the video on the new one with the same SD card and it worked perfectly :) But just in case I do have another SD card for backup.

Thanks again!

Yeah I know when i bought my d5000 the clerk told me straight off i was going to be any movie editing or watching on my camera taht i would definitelly need a higher power sd card. The ones with the bigger numbers in the circles. Not the gigs it is something else. I took his advice right away so i never had that problems but to me that sounds like what your problem was.
