As far as I can tell, every photographer is always scheming on their next piece of gear. As soon as I get something new, I always think, "And now all I need is..."
Right now, I'm plotting on the Nikon "Micro" 85mm f/3.5 (so I can finally retire the "Ghetto Macro" adapter). What are you scheming on / saving for next?
This is really weird. I cannot think of anything I want. In the last six months I have bought a new camera (p and s only kind I use now), an mp3 player, and a little notebook computer. Hmmm, maybe old age has its's benefits.
Either the Nikon 35mm 1.8 AFS or the Nikon 24mm 2.8D AF. It would be a nice add to my 50mm, and the nice midrange zooms are too damn much, so for less money I can get 3 prime lenses and have clearer images.
I've been wanting a flash transmitter and receiver, but my husband just informed me that one is on its way in the mail. Woohoo! Now....what to set my sights on next?
I just bought my first DSLR ( Sony Alpha a230), and at this point I'm still trying to figure out how to use it to my advantage as opposed to the point and shoot that I did have. I think I'd like to have a wide angle lens, and a portrait lens, but we will see.
I would like a macro, or a fisheye. Both stupidly expensive and not worth it because I'd probably get bored with using them after a short while :-) Doesnt stop me wishing I had one tho!!
me... hmmmm I need a new body as mine is one foot in the Smithsonian. Most likely looking at the D90 in thoughts that the full frames will be more available by Nikon in the near future. Don't want to spend the money on a D300 when the D90 is pretty much the same camera.
Good luck everyone with your wish list, I'm just happy to have my Olympus and thankful I can see to take a photo, many many people have no eyesight, so if I gather any funds I think I will donate half to the Blind Society.
I want a macro SO bad!!! I have to save up, so instead I ordered the macro close up filters until I can afford the actual macro lens!! Ohhh - but I want one soo much!
actually, nothing right now since I just purchased a negative scanner, hard drive and new laptop. but after the novelty wears off? perhaps a dslr, but I;m really liking the portability of my p&s and I don't know If it will be serious "scheming" for a dslr.
I've got lots of stuff I'd like to pick up, but my next purchase will likely be a Sigma 24mm f/1.8 EX. Unless Nikon's replacement for the D700 is as clean at super high ISO as the D3s.
I know I am no where near it but I would like to upgrade to a true SLR from my current Nikon P90. Don't get me wrong, the P90 rocks as point & shoots go, but I really really want more control! =D
I bought a wide angle lens last week but it wasn't wide enough. So I sent it back and am waiting for the ultra-wide angle to come in the mail. Love the wide angle look, hope I can come up with some good shots with it. Anyway, there goes the better part of a grand and any further "scheming" until next year.
I am scheming on a completely legal way of coming up with a ton of money to buy all the equipment I want. ; P Maybe a rich uncle I didn't know about will die and bequeath his fortune to me. =D
I already have shiny macro kit for cheapo 8D Although, I was moaning the other day about how far back I have to step to get things framed with my 40-80mm, and that I really ought to get a wide-angle, and then realised that my other manual lens actually has a 20-80mm range and may negate me needing to get one of those. Yay for saving money! 8D I need a telephoto lens, really, like a 200mm or summat. Too bad I have a degree to pay for!
I have been dreaming about getting a macro lens and a fish eye lens : ) hopefully I might be ale to wrangle one for Christmas?? (Macro probably) have also been putting up with a mobile phone with a broken screen for a couple of months so I can get the new iphone- hurry up and release it down here already!!! I am sick of not being able to send of read texts : S

Currently, I'm planning on a nifty 50!
Also looking to buy a flash modifier kit like this one... it would be a nice change from my ghetto rigged setups that I can't take in public.... http://www.amazon.com/Strobies-Modifier-Diffuser-Reflector-Honeycomb/dp/B003EN56XG/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I1MCVDVX2VEVRX&colid=2WSLX0G9JT0JG
#1 10-20mm sigma wide angle
#2 external flash
tax time coming up yayyyyyyyyy
Jeff, the D300 really blows the D90 away in build quality though... something to consider if you are planning to have it a long time...
Brad, Lightroom is where its AT, good call!
Rachel, let me know if that uncle of yours needs extra friends / beneficiaries on his life insurance policy :)
I have shot with nothing more than a Nikon Film and Digital for 13+ years, a 35-70 zoom, a 55-200 Zoom, and no one seems to complain.
Save your money, and do something nice for you wife, children, or whoever is of interest to you.
or a Macro
But with no work I don't think that's happening anytime soon :p
