What do you think about this underwater case?

I will soon be getting a Nikon Coolpix S8100 just for a smaller pocket camera for when I don't have my DSLR, we go to the beach sometimes and thought it might be interesting to have an underwater case. It says it works for S8000 so I'm pretty sure that means for all models in the S8000 series.
Does this look like it would be a safe case?

Dang, it's expensive as hell. It costs more than my entire photography arsenal.

Sue
yes, very expensive, but it looks secure enough

I knew someone that used a ziplock bag with a small point and shoot, it worked pretty good.

Here is an underwater case / bag that is advertised on this site. It's a fraction of the price of the case listed above.

Or look at an under water camera, like the Pentax W90... smaller and works great... it is cheaper than the case you are after and will not drag you down to the bottom of the ocean...

I want to add on more thing... yes that case can go down to 60m... but at that depth you will need powerful lights... it gets dark underwater in a hurry... just something to think about...

@rrt I've done that with a DSLR. Only just under the surface, mind. Worked fine though!

@jinximages did you just stick the lens in the bag or was it fully in the bag? Do you keep air in it? so tempted to try!

@icywarm I just used a really large bag and put the whole thing in. I adjusted the settings before I put it in (guesstimated) so I didn't need to change anything once it was sealed, not that it is *too* hard to turn a wheel inside the bag, but I wanted to minimise risk. I held the seal of the bag underneath the camera so that any leaks would be stalled, and did a quick test before I shot any frames. I was also very quick about it!

If you just wanted to shoot down into the water, I reckon just a small bag over the lens would be fine. But if something went wrong, I think the big bag idea would be less of a stress-inducer.

Oh, I pushed most of the air out of it, just to make it easier to hold on to!

I wanted to try underwater shots so I bought a waterproof Olympus Stylus Tough 8010 - it retails for about $400 in the US and even though I don't like the picture quality as a regular p&s, I'm pleased with the outdoor and underwater results.

The company offers to replace any equipment that gets damaged by water when you're using it too.
